Minister of Environment, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan, has said that this year, clean water would be provided to 59,989 people of the Maldivian population.

Dr. Rasheed made the statement at a special activity today celebrating the International Water Day held at Alifu Alifu Mathiveri.

He said that the state budget for the year include the establishment of water systems in 82 islands.

Minister Dr. Rasheed also noted that it is now not possible to prepare for rain due to climate change. And the fragile water layer of the islands have been affected by humans.

He also noted that although the safe water systems are being installed by the government, they are not being used adequately.
