While the government of India has gifted 500 LED lights to Maldives, the lights are to be installed throughout Male’ City.
The Ministry of Environment declared today, that an agreement has been signed with the Indian government and the Ministry in an effort to strengthen ties in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Maldives, on 17 March. While Maldives is to be gifted a total 2500 LED street lamps under the agreement, 500 of these lamps have now been received and will be installed in the streets of Male’.
The Ministry informed that these lamps will be used to replace street lamps that are powered by non-LED bulbs. The LED bulbs incur lower electrical costs as well.
It has been further divulged that a ceremony will be held on the evening of 31 March 2019 to mark the changing if the streetlamp light bulbs in one of the streets of Male’.
The Minister of Environment, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan and Ambassador of India to Maldives, Sunjay Sudhir will be taking part in this ceremony.
