Minister of Environment, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan along with other heads of the ministry are set to be summoned to the parliament committee on Environment and Climate Change.

They are being summoned to the committee meeting at 12 p.m. today for discussions and information regarding the amendment of the renewable energy law.

While major projects for renewable energy has been set to take place in the country, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that solar energy plants will be developed in 82 islands this year.

Environment Minister, Dr. Hussain Rasheed has previously said that reducing the dependency on fossil fuel is one of the goals of the current administration. And renewable energy projects will be launched to achieve that goal.

Meanwhile, State Electric Company (STELCO) has said that they have decided to run an experimental project in Alifu Alifu Atoll Ukulhas to provide electricity with 100 percent renewable energy.
