A fire incident has taken place at a residential house in Male' City.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said that fire incident on the third floor of Morning View at the Mahchangolhi district was reported to the Fore and Rescue Services at 5 a.m. this morning.

The surrounding buildings were evacuated at the fire was controlled around 6 a.m.

While the Fire and Rescue Service is ensuring the fire has been completely extinguished, the building sustained major fire damages.

Male' City Mayor, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited the scene of the fire and met with some of the people in the area.

MNDF said that there were three people on the their floor when the fire started and Thet received minor injuries while trying to get out of the building.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this time.
