The newly appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Maldives, Dr. Ashraf Farhad Shikhaliyev, has presented his letters of credence to the Maldivian President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

At the meeting was held at the President's Office today, President Solih conveyed his congratulations to the ambassador on the new post and welcomed Dr. Shikhaliyev to the Maldives.

The President's Office stated that President Solih had expressed his confidence that the ties between Maldives and Azerbaijan will be further strengthened.

The President had also reportedly said that he hoped to further develop the relationship between the two countries during the “Partnership Forum” attended by the two countries this coming March.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Maldives Dr. Ashraf Farhad Shikhaliyev highlighted Maldivian students achieving scholarship-sponsored higher education in Azerbaijan. The President's Office said that the ambassador encouraged more students to join higher studies in Azerbaijan. The ambassador also reportedly said that Maldivian students should consider studying in the country’s diplomatic academy, A.D.A University.
