President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that his thyroid surgery was a success.

The President traveled to Singapore for the medical procedure on 23 February 2022. And with the surgery this morning, the authority of the President's Office was temporarily transferred to the Vice President Faisal Naseem.

The Vice President took on the authority of the President for three hours and 30 minutes today for the first time in Maldivian history.

Following the surgery, the President took to Twitter stating that the surgery was completed and is now recovering in good spirits.

"I thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers." President Solih said.
