Two people have been taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) to be treated for burns after a cooking gas cannister exploded inside residential house in Male’ City.

MNDF said that the Fire and Rescue Teams have been mobilized after a gas explosion on the fifth floor of Thinnoonuge in the Henveiru district of the capital city.

Two people sustained burn injuries in the incident reported at 12:31 p.m. today according to the MNDF and they were taken to IGMH for treatment. MNDF said that the incident was reported to transport the two victims after the fire, caused by a gas leak, was extinguished.

MNDF said that the fire incident took place due to a lose nut connected to the gas cannister. And the two people that were injured are the two closest to the explosion.
