Schools in the Male’ Area today have resume classes for Grade 7.

While classes for Grade 7 has resumed today at the schools, Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 resumed classes at the schools on 4 October while Grade 8 classes resumed on 19 October.

Ministry of Education has previously said that it is unlikely that classes can resume to the schools this year for the grades below 7.

After the schools were initially closed on 12 March 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, classes were taken online. When the number of cases dropped in July, the Ministry resumed classes for the grades 9 and above but the schools were closed again on 9 August amid a spike in cases.
