The two schools developed in Baa Atoll Fehendhoo and Vaavu Atoll Thinadhoo start Satellite Schooling in the Maldives have been inaugurated.
The inauguration of the schools were held online as well.
The Vice President, Faisal Naseem launched the inauguration from the Satellite Hub at Huravee School. He was accompanied by the Special Advisor to the President, Dr. Mustafa Luthufee and other cabinet ministers and high ranking officials.
Education Minister, Dr. Aishath Ali also took part in the ceremony from B. Fehendhoo.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President said that the current administration is working diligently to expand the education system and has launched and completed 40 education-related projects and another 50 projects are ongoing.
The Education Minister said that Satellite Schools are better equipped for online classes than the other schools in the country with better speeds and resources. And so, students are able to get the same quality of education.
Minister Dr. Aishath Ali said that the hope is that family that have moved away from their home islands for education would return and continue their education at the islands.
Although it is officially inaugurated today, the satellite schooling began yester in Fenedhoo and Thinadhoo. However, the schools is yet to begin at V. Rakeedhoo since the building development is yet to be completed.
The satellite program was started by the government to end the need for students at the island's with a low student population and or a lack of school to travel across the sea for an education.
