The Prosecutor General has decided not to pursue charges in the case of the 75 ventilators that were acquired by the Health Ministry through Dubai’s Executors General Trading outside the financing regulations.
While the PG Office has not revealed as to why they are not pursing charges, they have said that further information on the matter would be presented later.
PG office made the announcement on Twitter this morning stating that after review, the case was declined today and the reasoning for the decision would be shared later.
An investigation was launched after an audit report revealed misinformation and false information in the acquisition of ventilators by the Health Ministry through Dubai’s Executors General Trading amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report in question stated that possible corruption took place in the purchasing of 145 ventilators. And so, an adequate evaluation on the financial and technical capabilities were not made before ordering 75 ventilators through the Dubai company for MVR 34,502,250.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) said that cases sent for prosecution include those against the member so the Bid Committee including the Health Minister, Abdulla Ameen.
