ADK: Antibodies found in 125 of the 3,004 people tested

ADK Hospital has said that antibodies were found in 125 of the 3,004 people that were tested among delivery personnel, frontline workers and the people from their households during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hospital decided to provide free Roche Cobas Alexis E411 immunoanalysis testing in this past July. It is a test done to see if a person had a previous infection. It is the same procedure used in other countries as well.

While the results of the testing have been released by ADK today, 125 of the 3,004 people that were tested were confirmed to have the antibodies which adds up to 4.1 percent of the people.

Among the 3,004 people that were tested, 412 were medical works and 1,257 were construction and delivery personnel.

ADK estimates that there are 90,000 frontline workers in the Male’ Area and all the samples were collected from people that had not done the PCR testing and are asymptomatic.

The hospital said that the results of tha testing have been shared with the government officials and would be providing similar assistance in the future as well.

Meanwhile the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 9,494. And while the daily cases averaged above 100 last month, the daily average number of cases have been below 100 this month so far.

A total of 8,033 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives so far with 1,422 active cases and 33 fatalities.
