Main opposition party PPM has been fined by MVR 50,000 for mismanaging the record of the funds on the 2019 Audit Report.
Article 41 of the Political Parties Act states that every party is required to audit their annual financials through and auditor approved by the Auditor General and submit it with 90 days after the end of each year.
Vice President of the Elections Commission, Ahmed Akram told One Online that PPM was fined after the audit statement says that the party did not keep adequate records of their finances.
And so, the Treasurer of PPM and former Chief of Staff, Ahmed Mustafa, was fined by MVR 10,000 and ordered to pay the fines within one month from 10 August 2020.
PPM was fined by MVR 20,000 for the same offense last year as well while the Treasurer faced a fine of MVR 5,000.
