Opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has won the seat of Villimale' Women's Development Committee with a difference of just one vote.

The by-election of Villimale' WDC was held today, with voting closing at 16:00 hours. Preliminary results for the election have already been announced.

As per the preliminary results, Maldives National Party (MNP) candidate Aminath Sheeza received 358 votes while PPM candidate Fathimath Nazima received 359 votes, winning the election with the difference of just one vote.

No candidate contested from MDP as they lost the opportunity to compete in the election. While preliminary results have been announced, the Elections Commission (EC) has opened for any complaints regarding the election.
