Dr. Afzal has said that the 86th person confirmed for COVID-19 is a security guard for the State Trading Organization (STO) who also works as a taxi driver.

There are two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Male' City today. That is Case 85 and Case 86.

Speaking during a press conference at the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), Dr Afzal said that the patient is a security guard at STO, who has been driving taxi as well. The patient is also a Maldivian.

Dr Afzal noted that the taxi driver is related to other clusters and that contact tracing has gone back to as far as Case 36. Case 36 tested positive after developing flu like symptoms in Hulhumale Amin Hiya. Dr Afzal further noted that the house that Case 86 is in was where Case 36 was previously at. Case 74, 75 and 83 - three foreigners who were at the same house had also tested positive.

Further seven people have been identified through contact tracing of the patient.
