Spokesperson for the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz, has said that an employee of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has tested positive for COVID-19.

Adding further details, Dr. Nazla said that the MACL staff that tested positive is one of the people who were isolated and tested after contact tracing from the first confirmed case in Male’ City.

The first positive case in the Maldivian capital was confirmed on the morning of 15 April and a lock down was initiated for the Male’ area. Since then, eight people have tested positive for COVID-19 and a nationwide lock down has been implemented with a 14-day lock down on the capital city.
