Agreements have been signed with Shah Technical Consultants Private Limited to design and manage project consultancy for water and sewerage systems in 34 islands in the Maldives.

Financed by USD 3.9 million from the USD 800 million from the line of credit facilities through the Exim Bank of India, the Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure said that the project entails the sewerage system designing of 17 islands and water system designing of 32 islands.

The agreement signed by the Director General of the Planning Ministry, Shanna Farooq and the Director of Shah Technical Consultants, Gautam Mahaveer covers preliminary design and services in the tender phase along with construction supervising and a detailed project report.

The islands in the project for water systems are:

  • Kelaa and Baarah in Haa Alifu Atoll
  • Vaikaradhoo from Haa Dhaalu Atoll
  • Funadhoo and Lhaigam in Shaviyani Atoll
  • Manadhoo in Noonu Atoll
  • Kurendhoo in Lhaviyani Atoll
  • Gaafaru and Kaashidhoo in Kaafu Atoll
  • Maalhos in Alifu Alifu Atoll
  • Dhigurah in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll
  • Felidhoo, Fulidhoo and Thinadhoo in Vaavu Atoll
  • Kolhufushi, Maduvvari and Muli in Meemu Atoll
  • Bilehadhoo and Dharamboodhoo in Faafu Atoll
  • Bandidhoo and Meedhoo from Dhaalu Atoll
  • Hirilandhoo from Thaa Atoll
  • Gan, Isdhoo, Maamendhoo and Maabaidhoo in Laamu Atoll
  • Dhaandhoo, Gemanafushi and Maamendhoo in Gaafu Alifu Atoll
