Huravee Building to be demolished, to build parking space and park

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has said that discussions are underway to demolish the old and decrepit Huravee Building and develop a park with a parking zone.

State Minister at the Planning Ministry, Akram Kamaaluddin told ONE Online today that discussions are underway to demolish the Huravee Building and plans for a parking space and a park are underway.

Huravee Building is an office building during the early years of the Presidency of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

The building was set to be vacated and the government offices were moved during the Presidency of Mohamed Nasheed but the old building was repaired for further use due to a lack of space to move the offices.

In 2019, a portion of the building's balcony collapsed damage a number of vehicles parked on the street.
