A dangerous fire incident has taken place in Gaafu Alifu Gemanafushi this morning injuring two people.

Talking to One Online, Vice President of the Gemanafushi Island Council, Mohamed Musaffir said that the incident took place after the patrol was ignited by sparks during an attempt to activate a battery with two wires to pump water from the back end of a launch.

Both the owner and the captain of the vessel, Ahmed Nigaf and Mohamed Zahir Hussain, in the incident according to the Musaffir said. He said that both men are locals in the island. And the vessel too sustained damages.

They are now being treated at the Gemanafushi Health Center.
