Baarah constituency MP Ibrahim Shujau has claimed that MDP members are unhappy over alleged secret communications between former President Mohamed Nasheed and former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Shujau made the remarks on X in response to comments by Yameen at a PNF meeting, where the former president claimed that PNC MPs were angered by legal reforms aimed at curbing the black-market sale of US dollars.

Yameen also alleged that some MPs were quietly working against President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and suggested that the political situation could change soon.

Shujau said there was no such unrest within Parliament against the President, but argued that comments from MDP MPs indicated dissatisfaction linked to the alleged Nasheed-Yameen communications.

PNC PG Leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah also responded to Yameen, saying the 20th Parliament would complete its term with stability and remained firmly aligned with President Dr Muizzu.
