Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has launched a safety survey for residents of the Aman Udhares and Aman Dhoadhi towers.
The survey follows recent incidents involving children falling from residential buildings, including the death of a two-year-old child who fell from the 12th floor of a Stelco flat and injuries sustained by a 16-year-old who fell from an Aman Udhares tower.
FDC said the survey aims to identify units housing children and people requiring special assistance and determine additional safety measures needed.
FDC Managing Director Hamdhan Shakeel has visited several units and met residents to discuss safety concerns. FDC is also holding a fire safety awareness session with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The corporation said the session will cover common causes of fires, prevention measures and how to respond during emergencies.
Meanwhile, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is offering assistance to residents to repair safety features such as windows and balcony railings. Applications for the assistance are open until 12pm on September 30.
