President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the newly established Greater Malé Transport Mobility Office will operate using existing government staff rather than recruiting new employees.

Speaking in the fourth episode of the President’s Office podcast The Pulse, the President said the office has been created by restructuring existing government resources to focus on resolving transport and traffic issues in the Greater Malé region.

He said the office will be staffed by personnel from the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and other government institutions with the required technical expertise, without increasing the government's expenditure on additional staff.

The President said the office has been given the authority and resources needed to deliver faster and more effective solutions by removing administrative barriers and focusing on measurable results.

He added that the office aims to provide both immediate and long-term solutions to Malé's traffic challenges, including ahead of the major road development project supported by the Chinese government. The project is also expected to deliver lasting improvements to road design, parking and overall traffic management.

The President expressed confidence that all relevant government agencies would work together to achieve the initiative's objective of delivering practical and lasting benefits to the public.
