Bank of Maldives (BML) and Maldives Immigration have clarified that no personal travel information of customers is shared with the bank under their new digital integration system.
BML dismissed rumors claiming that customers’ travel details are being shared, stating that the system is fully automated and designed to protect user privacy. The bank explained that the process is similar to standard card authentication during transactions.
The clarification follows public concern over alleged data sharing linked to restrictions on the use of Maldivian bank cards abroad.
BML emphasized that while it routinely collects transaction-related data such as time, location, and spending patterns, it maintains strict safeguards to protect customer information. The bank reaffirmed that privacy protection remains one of its top priorities.
