B. Eydhafushi has won this year's Charity Shield match by defeating K. Kaashidhoo in a penalty shootout to mark the commencement of the HD Hyundai Golden Futsal Challenge 2026.

In the Charity Shield match played last night at the Rehendhi Ground in Hulhumalé, the score remained tied at 0-0 at the end of regulation time. Eydhafushi ultimately secured the victory 3-1 in the ensuing penalty shootout. Eydhafushi's goalkeeper, Mohamed Shaan, who came on specifically for the shootout, made three crucial saves to deny Kaashidhoo.

While both teams had good opportunities to score during the match, the performance of both goalkeepers was noteworthy. Mohamed Nasih, who guarded the goal for Eydhafushi during the game, made several important saves, while on the other end, Kaashidhoo's goalkeeper Mohamed Saleem also put on an impressive display. Saleem was the 'King' of the tournament when Kaashidhoo won the championship last year.

Goalkeeper Shaan blocked penalties from Kaashidhoo's Abdulla Suzair, Ilvan Mohamed (Ille), and Ahmed Majeed. The only successful penalty for Kaashidhoo was scored by Ajulan Abdul Hannan.

For Eydhafushi, Ahmed Fathin missed his penalty, while Ibrahim Shareef, Ali Naseem (Dhilli), and Unaish Zubair (Una) successfully converted their shots to secure the shield.

The Golden Futsal Challenge commenced last night, introducing Video Support (VS) technology for this edition. During the match, the referee utilized Video Support to make a key decision.

The proceeds from this year's Charity Shield match have once again been donated to the people of Palestine. Eydhafushi has become the third team to ever win the Golden Futsal Challenge Charity Shield. Previously, L. Gan secured the shield twice, while Gaafaru has also claimed the title.

In last year's Shield match, Gan defeated Eydhafushi.

The atoll-round matches of the Golden Futsal Challenge are scheduled to begin this afternoon and will continue into the night.
