The Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) has approved a budget of MVR 43.89 million for this year last night.
At VAM's annual general meeting held at the Social Center last night, details of last year's expenses were publicized along with the external audit. Additionally, detailed information about this year's budget was shared with general members and approved.
VAM also revealed last year's annual report, which stated that six EXCO meetings were held last year. The report mentions that VAM represented the Maldives in seven international tournaments last year, as well as in four beach volleyball tournaments.
Among these, winning a gold medal in beach volleyball and silver and bronze medals in volleyball were highlighted as achievements.
Last year, the association received MVR 5.2 million and spent MVR 7.2 million.
The largest revenue for VAM last year also came from government funds. This year too, VAM expects a significant revenue from the government, while the largest expense is projected to be for participating in international tournaments and hosting tournaments in the Maldives.
VAM has decided to host many international volleyball tournaments in the Maldives this year, and estimates that these efforts, in collaboration with the government, will cost over MVR 10 million. The budget also includes over 15 million rufiyaa for sending teams to international tournaments.
This year, VAM plans to continue the volleyball league for senior and junior age groups, with an estimated MVR 7.8 million allocated for domestic tournaments.
The budget announced by VAM last night includes about MVR 6 million for training camps and conducting training programs across different parts of the Maldives, while MVR 3.5 million has been allocated for youth development.
