The amendments to the law concerning taxes and fees for passengers departing from the Maldives, which increase the departure tax and airport development fee, have come into effect today.
The amendment was passed in the People's Majlis session held on October 31 this year, to be implemented from today.
According to the amendment to the law on taxes and fees for passengers departing from the Maldives, there is no change to the current $12 departure tax and airport development fee for Maldivians traveling in economy class. However, the fee for foreigners has been increased from $30 to $50.
For both Maldivians and foreigners traveling in business class, the fee has been increased from $60 to $120, and for those traveling in first class, it has been increased from $90 to $240. Additionally, the law has been amended to charge $480 for private jets.
