A man has been arrested in the Maldives for allegedly threatening to attack his mother and brother with knives. The suspect, identified as Mohammad Shafiq, was taken into custody after police recovered two knives from his room.

According to the Criminal Court's order issued yesterday, the arrest followed accusations that Shafiq had made serious threats towards his family. The court noted that his mother had previously warned about the escalating situation but said her concerns went unaddressed.

The court has remanded Shafiq in police custody for seven days as investigations continue. Authorities are treating the matter seriously, emphasising the need to ensure the safety of his family members while they gather further evidence.
