President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called on the global community to utilise all political and economic means to end Israel's occupation of Palestinian lands. His statement came in a post on X marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

President Dr Muizzu emphasised the Maldives' unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people, condemning the ongoing injustices and suffering they endure. "The atrocities and injustices faced by the Palestinian people are deeply felt by all Indigenous people," he stated.

Urging collective action, the president called on the international community to "unite and use its political will and economic power to hold those responsible for war crimes accountable." He stressed that a lasting solution lies in establishing an independent State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Maldives has long supported Palestine's struggle for independence, reaffirming its commitment to advocating for their rights on the international stage.
