President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Maldives’ strong support for Palestine on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. He highlighted that supporting the Palestinian struggle for justice and peace is a deeply rooted belief shared by all Maldivians.
The President spoke about the hardships faced by Palestinians, including violence, displacement, and oppression, and called it a lasting injustice that the world must address. He urged the international community to take action by ending Israel’s occupation, stopping arms sales, and holding Israel accountable for its actions.
President Dr Muizzu also praised the work of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which has supported Palestinian refugees for over 75 years, and called for continued international support for its efforts.
He condemned Israel’s actions as violations of international laws and said they harm not only Palestinians but also the global system of justice. “For every Maldivian, Palestine’s struggle is our own,” he said, promising to continue advocating for Palestinian rights on all platforms.
The President ended his message by calling for a free and independent Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
