Home Minister Ali Ihsan said tonight that an investigation has been launched into the case of five Maldives Immigration employees suspected of illegally obtaining money from various parties.

In a post on his official X account tonight, Ihsan said that the investigation, which has been initiated through the police, has involved seizing electronic equipment used by these officers and searching their residences.

He also said that further details of the case will be revealed as the investigation progresses, in collaboration with the police and other relevant authorities.

Ihsan stated that such actions will not be tolerated by this government in any way.

"Taking the strictest legal measures against those who, while in uniformed institutions, disrespect the uniform and undermine public trust in these institutions is something the President has instructed me to do," Ihsan said.
