Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that the Zakat Fund will increase to MVR 100 million by the end of this coming December.

While sharing information about the work of the Islamic Ministry with the Social Committee of the People's Majlis, the Minister said that more work has been done this year to raise awareness about Zakat than in the past 20 years.

Shaheem also said that since the establishment of the Zakat Fund, more money has been deposited into the fund this year than ever before in the country's history.

He stated that so far this year, MVR 90 million has been deposited into the Zakat Fund.

Shaheem said that among the efforts being carried out by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to promote Islamic affairs is the arrangement of free Quran teaching in various parts of the country.

He added that so far, free Quran teaching services have been established in 16 atolls, and this service will be established in more locations in the future.
