The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has announced the appointment of G. Balasubramanian as the new High Commissioner of India to the Maldives.
Balasubramanian, who currently serves as India’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, will succeed Munu Mahawar, who has held the post since November 2021.
With extensive diplomatic experience, Balasubramanian has served in key missions in Moscow, Washington, DC, and Bangkok. His previous roles include Deputy Chief of Mission and India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
Balasubramanian’s appointment reflects India’s continued focus on strengthening ties with the Maldives.
