Voting for the internal elections of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) has begun.

PNC's internal elections were previously scheduled to be held on the 9th of this month. The election date was postponed because the 10th was also declared a government holiday in connection with Republic Day on the 11th of this month, and holding the election on the 9th could have caused difficulties.

Voting for PNC's internal elections began today at 10:00 AM with ballot boxes set to close today at 2:00 PM.

While voting for this election is taking place in 88 islands, in Male', voting will be held at Dharubaaruge. A total of 144 ballot boxes have been placed for this election, with 56 ballot boxes placed at Dharubaaruge.

While 1,984 positions are being elected in PNC, 1,300 positions have already been filled without an election.

In today's election, people will be elected for the remaining 667 positions. PNC said that 773 candidates are contesting for these positions.

PNC told One Online today that a total of 34,904 people have the right to vote in their internal elections. While 15,659 women have the right to vote, the number of men with voting rights is 19,245. In this election, 13,410 youth will be able to vote.

The constituencies set for electing members in PNC's internal elections are: Constituency President, Constituency Vice President, Women's President, Constituency Women Members, Constituency Youth President, Constituency Youth Members, and Constituency General Members.
