The Budget Committee has passed the budget proposed by the government for the year 2025 to the People's Majlis, along with several recommendations.
In today's meeting of the Budget Committee, Deputy Speaker of the Majlis and Member for Dhiggaru constituency Ahmed Nazim presented numerous recommendations for the budget.
These include prioritizing PSIP programs included in the budget according to criteria, and submitting a list to the Majlis before February next year showing which budgeted projects will have their practical work completed.
It also includes submitting a list before March showing which projects among those signed by the government so far will proceed and which cannot be carried forward.
The recommendations state that a schedule and measures for reforming companies to increase efficiency after dissolving unprofitable companies should be submitted to the Majlis every quarter of the coming year.
It also includes reviewing measures taken by MIRA against those who do not pay under the tax law, submitting amendments to the Tax Administration Act to reduce difficulties, identifying challenges in moving to targeted subsidies, and submitting a schedule of ways to improve these issues to the Majlis.
The budget was passed with these recommendations in today's committee meeting, with 15 out of 19 members present voting in favor.
The government proposed a budget of MVR 56.6 billion for the coming year.
