Member of Parliament for Maamiligili constituency, Qasim Ibrahim, has called for caution regarding the circulation of scam videos created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) that impersonate him.

In a post on X today, Qasim said that these videos claim he will provide Maldivians with offshore trading opportunities, investments, and quick-profit financial transactions. The videos also allegedly state that profits can be made through a scheme involving the national bank of Maldives, BML.

"The audio and video clips being circulated in my name are low-grade acts of deception aimed at misleading a section of the public, carried out for the purpose of modern scamming," Qasim said.

Qasim appealed to the public not to fall for any such scams. He also requested that people refrain from further sharing these videos on social media.
