A man from Thinadhoo, Ishaq Hassan, has been sentenced to nine months and three days in jail for stealing several valuable items from a house in the city. The stolen items included two iPhone 13 Pro Max phones, an iPhone 8 Plus, a Rolex watch, and a titanium ring with a purple crystal.

The theft occurred between 5:30 am and 10:30 pm on November 21, 2023, from the seventh floor of the 3A Villa. Ishaq Hassan pleaded guilty to the charge of unauthorized use of someone else’s property.

The prosecution initially sought a jail term of one year, seven months, and six days, as per the basic punishment for the crime. However, due to his guilty plea, the court reduced the sentence. It was further noted that Hassan had already spent 10 months and three days in custody, which was considered in his final sentence.

Judge Ibrahim Zihuni, who presided over the case, determined that Ishaq Hassan would serve the remaining nine months and three days of his sentence after the time he had already served.
