President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to begin the construction of council buildings in 100 islands next year.

Speaking at the Republic Day function, the President explained that the project aims to address the deteriorating condition of some civic bodies. He confirmed that 50 council buildings would be built with a grant from the Chinese government, while the remaining 50 will be financed through a government contract, with payments made according to established rules.

The President assured that the construction of these 100 buildings would be completed within the current government term, providing better facilities for local councils across the country.
