A Maldivian man has been arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Thai police reported that a significant drug bust took place, leading to the seizure of three kilograms of mephedrone, a synthetic stimulant drug. The drugs were hidden inside a protein supplement container that had arrived from the UK via courier.
The suspect was arrested at a courier facility in Bangkok while attempting to collect the package containing the illegal drugs. Authorities have not released the identity of the individual, as they are continuing to investigate and pursue others linked to the drug network.
Mephedrone is classified as a "Category 1" narcotic in Thailand, meaning it is considered a dangerous and highly regulated substance. The arrest is part of an ongoing effort by Thai authorities to combat drug trafficking in the region.
