President Dr Mohamed Muizzu recently met with UN Secretary General António Guterres during COP29 to discuss climate resilience for Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

During their meeting President Dr Muizzu highlighted the urgent need for international financial assistance to support climate action and reduce debt burdens on vulnerable nations like the Maldives.

Secretary General Guterres assured his commitment to addressing SIDS challenges and engaging international financial institutions to support these efforts. Both leaders concluded by reaffirming their dedication to ongoing collaboration on climate resilience and other shared development goals.
