Parliament will begin debating the 2025 state budget tomorrow, which was presented by the government on October 31.
The budget totals MVR 56.6 billion, with Finance Minister Moosa Zameer introducing it before it was sent for review.
Opposition MDP members raised concerns about not having the budget book when it was first presented, saying they couldn’t fully discuss it without the details. Government sources said the budget book will be available when the debate starts.
During the debate, each member will have 15 minutes to speak, and Finance Minister Zameer will have 45 minutes to respond to concerns raised. Each MP will also have seven minutes to discuss the budget and the committee’s report.
