President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reiterated the government’s commitment to good governance, emphasising transparency and accountability for the public’s benefit in his Republic Day address at Dharubaaruge.

He highlighted the government’s efforts to provide information, noting that around 840 questions were submitted through the ‘Citizens Voice’ portal, with only 22 still pending response. Additionally, he reported that 90% of Right to Information (RTI) requests have been addressed, with regular press briefings and daily updates now shared via the new “Sarukaaru” website.

Referencing his father’s book on responsibility in governance, President Muizzu stressed that accountability is essential for democracy and that integrity and honesty are particularly crucial in an Islamic society.
