The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has said that a video showing a prison cell decorated and lit as a nightclub is an old video.

In a press release issued today, the Correctional Service said the video clip has been going viral since 2022.

The statement further added that all parties should confirm any such information before spreading any information regarding such institutions that are linked to national security.

The video, which is circulating on social media, shows the walls designed in black, white and blue and decorated with bright red and blue lights to resemble a nightclub. The video also shows furniture being placed there and some people sitting on it and playing with their phones.
