A man has died after suffering a heart attack while running this year's Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race.

The deceased was identified as Maa. White Ali Umar Manik (Oregano Ayya), 45.

He suffered a heart attack after finishing the five-kilometer race in Hulhumale last October. He was first treated by the race's first aid partner, the Maldives Red Crescent, and later taken to Tree Top Hospital for further treatment.

He was confirmed dead early this evening. His funeral is scheduled to be held at the Hulhumale Cemetery after morning prayers.
