A fire broke out on a liveaboard vessel anchored in Hulhumale’ lagoon, leaving it damaged beyond use.

The fire, which was reported to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) at approximately 03:42hrs, quickly spread through the vessel, causing extensive destruction.

Firefighters from the MNDF’s Fire and Rescue Service were promptly dispatched to the scene and began operations to control the blaze. However, the MNDF has yet to confirm whether the fire is fully under control.

Photos and videos released by the MNDF reveal extensive damage to the vessel, with flames consuming the entire structure, leaving it charred and irreparable.

The MNDF has assured the public that further updates will be provided as the situation develops. So far, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
