Criminal Court on Monday sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor in his family.

Hussain Alif has been sent to jail in connection with the case. His case was filed in the criminal court in 2018.

The Criminal Court, in its verdict on Monday, said that based on the trial court's observation of "a person committing sexual act with a child of his family" against Hussian Alif, and the evidence presented by the prosecution to convict Hussain Alif, the accused was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Therefore, under Section 15 (a) of the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act', Alif has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor of his family and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
