First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has concluded her visit to Tanzania, where she participated as Guest of Honour in the 11th Merck Foundation Africa Asia Luminary Annual Conference, held from October 29-30, 2024, in Dar es Salaam.
During the conference, the First Lady delivered a keynote address at the High-Level First Ladies Panel, highlighting the importance of global collaboration to advance healthcare, women’s empowerment, and education. She also spoke at the Merck Foundation First Ladies Initiative (MFFLI) Committee Meeting, expressing her commitment to using her platform to address the rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the Maldives.
In addition, First Lady Sajidha met with the First Lady of The Gambia on the sidelines of the conference.
The Merck Foundation Africa Asia Luminary conference this year brought together healthcare professionals, policymakers, and academics to discuss progress in women’s empowerment, improved disease management, and increased access to quality healthcare across Africa and Asia.
