The Government of Maldives has issued a strong condemnation of recent military strikes conducted by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that these actions violate Iran’s sovereignty and contravene international law. In a formal statement, the Maldivian government expressed concern over the escalating hostilities, which it warned pose a serious threat to regional stability and the security of nations and their people.

The Maldives has called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions, urging all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and adhere to international law. Highlighting the need for a peaceful resolution, the government appealed to the international community to take decisive steps to halt hostilities and encourage dialogue.

“The Government of Maldives urges all parties to commit to de-escalation and engage in diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis. The Maldives remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster regional security, stability, and lasting peace,” the statement read.

The Maldives has emphasised its stance on respecting national sovereignty and promoting international law as the foundation for global security. In its appeal, the government called upon global powers and international organisations to support efforts that prioritise peacebuilding measures and open channels for constructive dialogue.

This latest call for restraint and diplomacy reflects the Maldives' longstanding foreign policy advocating for peaceful conflict resolution and adherence to international law in global affairs.
