Housing Ministry has announced that a new draw will be held among the recipients of land from Gulhifalhu under the former administration’s ‘Binveriya’ housing scheme, following a change to the land use plan of the island.

While draws have already been conducted during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, a recent change to the Land Use Plan of Gulhifalhu published on October 15th noted changes to the locations of the plots awarded.

Henceforth, the Ministry said they will be holding a new draw among the recipients, scheduled for next Tuesday at Dharubaaruge.

Details of the number of plots being issued and their sizes are as follows:

  • 669 plots measuring 1,250 square feet
  • 1,234 plots measuring 1,650 square feet
  • 916 plots measuring 2,050 square feet
  • 158 plots measuring 2,850 square feet
  • 49 plots measuring 3,250 square feet
  • 21 plots measuring 3,650 square feet

These include those who had requested to change their plots from Giraavarufalhu to Gulhifalhu.

The Ministry further said the registry of land and agreements with the land owners would be shared later after the draw.

Former administration of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih decided to issue 9,003 plots to 18,955 eligible recipients from the first round of the ‘Binveriya’ Scheme. The plots were designated from Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu, and Giraavarufalhu.
