"We are saddened to inform that one of the participants of Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2024 collapsed at the finish line of the 5K race. Our First Aid Partner, Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC) and our Medical Partner, Tree Top Hospital were at the scene and currently, he is being treated at Tree Top Hospital. We wish him a full and speedy recovery," the telecom company said in a post on X.
DMRR is the first and only international run held in the Maldives, listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar with a World Athletics-certified race route. The event brings together runners from all over the world with participants from 27 countries running last year as well.
Similar to previous years, DMRR 2024 is dedicated towards the social cause of child protection, one of the key focus areas of Dhiraagu’s corporate social responsibility programme. The run will provide a platform for NGOs working in the area of child protection to raise awareness and funds for their cause.
