The parliament has approved the appointment of four nominees from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to serve on the Tax Appeal Tribunal.
The positions became vacant after four members of the five-member tribunal were removed following a parliamentary resolution. The resolution recommended their dismissal to the president, except for one member who had filed a complaint alleging irregularities within the tribunal.
In response, the president submitted 13 candidates to parliament to fill the four vacant positions. The nominees were:

- Abdul Ghanee Mohamed, H. Host Side
- Ahmed Ali, Hulhumale' Flat
- Ali Riza Ismail, Hulhumale' Hiyaa 2
- Fathimath Shafinaz, Hulhumale' Plot 11021
- Majid Ali, Matharesmaghe, G. Dhandhoo
The Judiciary Committee reviewed the candidates, scoring them based on merit. The committee recommended the top scorers, those who achieved over 75%, for parliamentary approval.

Parliament subsequently approved the appointment of four members to the Tax Appeal Tribunal: Abdul Ghanee Mohamed, Ibrahim Shareef, Hasan Zuhair Mohamed, and Shifza Abdul Gayyoom.
