Police have arrested two individuals suspected of stealing MVR 25,000 using a bank card taken from an elderly woman in GA. Vilingili.

The incident was reported to authorities at around 8:13 PM on Wednesday.

According to the police, the two suspects—Mohamed Shain Shameez, 22, from GA. Vilingili, and Hamdoon Khaleel, 24, from North Heaven, Thundi, L. Gan—allegedly used the stolen card to withdraw MVR 25,000 from a Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM in GA. Maamendhoo.

The suspects were intercepted and arrested during a sea operation as they were returning to Vilingili.

Upon searching the speedboat, police recovered MVR 23,000 of the stolen amount.

The case remains under police investigation.
